Guidelines for Contributing Articles & Posts
Please read carefully as these guidelines form the basis of a contract upon submission and publication.
Would you like to write for Le Francophile? Whether you have a specific topic to share with fellow Francophiles or are looking to submit regular articles, we welcome contributions on French life, culture, art, history, sights, music, wine, and local travel. We look for authoritative, informative, and entertaining stories—from personal vignettes and interviews to reviews and photo essays.
Option 1: Guest Contribution
- 1-Year Exclusivity: Exclusive publication rights on LeFrancophile.com for 12 months.
- Perpetual Right: Transitions to a non-exclusive license after 1 year, allowing us to keep hosting your article indefinitely.
- Compensation: In lieu of payment, you receive an active, contextual do-follow backlink to your website or portfolio in your author bio.
- Reproduction: After 12 months, you may republish elsewhere provided you include an active link stating “First published on Lefrancophile.com”.
Option 2: Outright Purchase
- Full Copyright Transfer: Publisher purchases full copyright ownership of the Work.
- Payment Terms: Paid at €0.03 per word (€30 per 1,000 words) after editing. Alternatively, you may elect to forego cash payment in exchange for a contextual do-follow backlink inside the article body.
- Reproduction Limit: Copyright is assigned outright; any future reproduction by the author requires prior written permission.
General Submission Requirements
- Word Count: Articles should be between 500 and 1,500 words. Photo/video essays require at least 300 words.
- Languages: We accept original submissions in English or French.
- Originality: Submissions must be previously unpublished (including on personal blogs) and pass plagiarism checks.
- Images & Media: Include 3 to 7 high-resolution images. You must own the copyright or provide proof of public domain / open-source licensing.
- Author Bio: Submissions must include a headshot image or avatar and a bio of 300 words or fewer detailing your expertise.
- Editing & Rights: By submitting, you grant us permission to edit or translate the text if accepted.
Commercial / Sponsored Posts
If you represent a business or client seeking a commercial link insertion into existing or guest content, this is classified as a sponsored post and subject to separate commercial rates. Please reach out directly for advertising terms.
